Stephen O'Sullivan Displays The New An Post Yellow Jersey
GPO, Dublin, 27thSeptember: An Post is the new sponsor of the Rs. The event will be known as the An Post Rs from 2011 onwards with the sponsorship continuing for at least three years.

The 2011 An Post Rs is the only UCI recognised Irish race in the world cycling calendar.

An Post already has a strong track record of supporting grassroots and developmental cycling in Ireland.

Since 2007, the Company is a title sponsor of the Sean Kelly Cycling Team which supports elite young Irish riders at international level from the Belgium based Sean Kelly Academy.
In 2009, leisure cycling received a massive growth in interest due to the An Post Cycle Series, a community cycling initiative in association with the Irish Sports Council. The Cycle Series, five events across the country from May to September saw a 100% increase in participation numbers this year. An Post also supported the Tour of Ireland from 2007 to 2009, and was involved in the 2010 National Bike Week. More>>>

Impressive Line-Up For New Rs Working Group.
Dermot Dignam
Long time organiser of FBD Insurance RS, Dermot Dignam, who stood down from the position following this years race in May, is to spearhead a special working group set up to organise the race into the future. There was some concern in cycling circles that Dignams absence from the scene would cause an experience deficit that would be hard to fill.

Dignam is delighted with the new development in recent years the RS has grown into one of the most competitive and popular events of its kind anywhere in the world he stated now with this new set-up we are in a much better position to cope with the ever increasing workload and also to develop many aspects of the race which will attract even further interest from teams and countries throughout the world and whats good for the RS is good for Ireland.

Its expected Dignam will be named as Race Director with Edward Dawson and Tony Campbell as his deputies and Accommodation Officer and Route Director respectively. Brna OSullivan will take charge of international and county teams, Seamus Domegan will liaise with stage finish towns, Aidan Harper will be involved in Garda and sponsor liaison, Eimear Dignam will take charge of all race publications while Kieran McIntyre will act as Health and Safety Advisor. Current RS rider Stephen OSullivan has the onerous task of designing the route for next years race. More>>>
